The Villain Database lists off the members/followers of the following groups: THEM, The Brotherhood of Death, and Scythe. If there is a traitor in the group, the "x" symbol will appear by the name. If the member was the leader of a faction, the "*" star symbol will appear by their name.
THEM was established in 1955 and has undergone a wide variety of changes in ruling. The logo itself (a purple circle) is modeled after the "ground zero" training area of early SSC fame; which was set to be worn down to such a degree than the dirt appeared purple and discolored against the snow. In hopes of capturing the spirit and intensity of the early SSC; it was made to be THEM's symbol. It remained a reminder of the past and progressing through the most difficult of odds.
The name "THEM" was established to heckle/poke fun at the SSC's unsavory and generic views towards them; not referring to them directly but rather distantly and without concern. Thus the name THEM was adopted as a sort of ironic message. It also made discussing the group a challenge without proper knowledge of the situation(s).
THEM's primary function/purpose originally focused on ending the SSC to prevent students from getting harmed to large degrees. However this focus slowly shifted into a more black-and-white variation almost exclusively dedicated to wiping out the SSC and expanding it's influence over the town. To prevent uprisings and remain daunting; THEM would occasionally bully students or push their way to the top by force.
THEM consists primarily of masters, apprentices, and a leader. Masters are commonly tasked with training apprentice(s) ranging from only 1 and onward to somewhere around 7. These numbers have alternated in popularity over time; with numbers of apprentices per master gradually declining in more recent times. Masters also are in charge of setting up missions and providing governing rule over battles of which their apprentices or other apprentices are stationed.
Apprentices follow the orders of their masters and typically spend most time training. Ages of accepted members more often than not start at age 7 and onward to 19.
Leaders are given power over every aspect of THEM operations. More often than not, leaders were hand-picked by previous leaders. However popularity and image was also vital to maintain order. Only leaders could call for the beginning and ending of war and they are also to be the figurehead of just about any vital mission.
THEM fluctuated in strength many times over the course of it's lifetime; though it finally was broken apart in 2013.
The Brotherhood of Death Edit
The Brotherhood of Death was officially established in 2012. Their logo is modeled after the typical skull and crossbones. This symbol was used to strike fear into the hearts of enemies and differentiate itself from the previous threat to the SSC; THEM.
The name of "The Brotherhood of Death" was used to not only strike fear into the hearts of enemies, but to also showcase a strong bond between members and their willingness to fight to the bitter end.
The Brotherhood of Death's primary function/purpose was to exact revenge on Tim Allender and (by extension) the SSC as a whole. Their lack of activity in school settings made them relatively elusive and secretive.
The Brotherhood consisted primarily of masters, apprentices, and a leader. Masters were relatively few and far between; with most members being apprentices to the leader James. Masters were tasked with training and recruiting soldiers when James was unable too. In the event of James being defeated; a master would be tasked with taking his place.
Apprentices follow the orders of their masters and typically spend most time training. Ages of accepted members more often than not start at age 7.
The leader was given power over every aspect of Brotherhood operations. No voting or rules apply to the election or activities of the leader. Only the leader can call for the beginning and ending of war.
The Brotherhood fell apart in 2013 and struggled to regain power for years to come; with no success.
Scythe was established in 2031. Their logo is in the simplistic shape of an "X". This "X" symbolizes the members' cancellation or leaving of the civilized world and also represents that of which they have lost.
The name "Scythe" was taken as a reference to Big-H and his younger brother Trigger first dispelling of the weeds and brush in the center of Specter's Forest with the use of a scythe. These cleared grounds would later become Father Base and the scythe was hailed as the tool of which built it.
Scythe's primary function/purpose was take in those without homes, jobs, or futures and keep them alive through teamwork; mostly through illegal means. However due to misunderstandings and troubles within the group; they have had to deal with the enemy faction of the SSC.
Scythe consisted primarily of gang members and the leader. Gang members were tasked with upholding rules set by the leader and carrying out missions of their own consent to assist in the aiding of others within the group.
The leader was given power over every aspect of Scythe operations. Only leaders could call for the beginning and ending of war and they were also to be the figurehead of just about any vital mission.
Scythe was officially disbanded in 2038.
